MCC women top Buff State; men place second

ROCHESTER - The MCC swimming and diving teams competed with Buffalo State on Saturday, with the Monroe women taking first and the Tribune men second.

Ashley VanDermeer, Alison Gregor, and Heather Chrisman all won two individual events as the Lady Tribunes prevailed by a score of 130-83.

The Bengal men turned the tables on the Tribunes, winning 138-96.

VanDermeer took first place in the 100 back (1:09.40) and the 200 IM (2:28.84) for the Monroe ladies. Gregor won the 50 free (26.74) and 100 fly (1:06.15), while Chrisman prevailed in the 100 free (58.23) and 100 breast (1:14.03).

Hannah Cuyler was the other winner, taking first in the 1000 free in 13:44.80.

VanDermeer, Chrisman, and Gregor teamed with Andrea Toussaint to take the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:02.63.

The MCC men had four individual winners. Ilya Shinkeyev won the 500 free (5:25.52), while Jon Manwarren took first in the 100 back (1:00.81).

Other winners included Benjamin Metzger in the 200 IM (2:11.79) and Maclaine Conner in the 100 breast (1:05.98).
