MCC women fifth, men seventh after first day of nationals

BUFFALO - Megan Mack swam to a third-place finish in the women's 1000 freestyle to highlight the first day of the NJCAA Swimming and Diving championship meet at the Burt Flickinger Center on Wednesday.

Mack paced the Monroe women by finishing in a time of 11:04.87. The Lady Tribunes are in fifth place with a team score of 77 heading to Thursday.

The MCC men are seventh with a team score of 74. Indian River State College leads both the women's and men's standings.

Patrick Marsh earned a seventh-place finish in the 1000 for the Monroe men in a time of 10:35.72. Maclaine Conner (28.15) and Alex Parks (29.63) were eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 50 breast.

The 200 medley relay team of Caleb Puzio, Conner, Ben Metzger, and Parks finished seventh in 1:40.33.

On the women's side, Heather Chrisman finished ninth in the 200 IM (2:17.87) and Alison Gregor was 10th in the 50 free (25.36). The 200 medley team of Ashley VanDermeer, Chrisman, Gregor, and Hallie Marquart was fifth in 1:56.55.
