BUFFALO - The MCC men's and women's swimming and diving teams capped another outstanding season by earning Non-Scholarship titles at the NJCAA championship meet at Erie Community College last weekend.
The Tribune men finished sixth overall - and tops among non-scholarship schools - with 271 total points. The Monroe women actually finished tied for seventh with Erie CC (191 points) to split non-scholarship accolades with their fellow Region III participants.
Tyler Bischoping and Cameron Wagner earned individual honors on the men's side as Non-Scholarship Swimmers of the Meet. Bischoping finished fourth in the 500 Free, sixth in the 1650 Free, and seventh in the 1000 Free. Wagner was seventh in both the 200 and 500, eighth in the 1000, and 12th in the 200 Back. The duo also teamed to help the 200 Medley, 400 Free, and 800 Free relay teams to sixth-place finishes.
The men had a handful of other solid finishes on the event. Sophomore Loren Searle placed fourth in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving. Fellow sophomore Greg Sanders was sixth in the 200 Breast, 10th in the 100 Breast, and 11th in the 400 IM.
On the women's side, Samantha Pratt had a great meet overall. The first-year swimmer was eighth in the 1650 Free, 10th in the 400 IM and 1000 Free, and 12th in the 500 Free.
Kamryn Cook was fifth in 1-meter diving and 13th in the 50 Back. Katarina Sherry was 10th in the 50 Breast and 12th in both the 100 and 200 Breast, while Emily DeClerck was 13th in the 50 Back and 14th in the 100 Back.
