ROCHESTER, NY - The Monroe Community College Department of Athletics is excited to announce the addition of eSports as a competitive varsity program, beginning in the Fall semester of 2020. eSports is competitive gaming using video games on various platforms, most often in the form of organized, multiplayer competitions.
"eSports has seen significant growth at the collegiate level, including at the community college level, for several years. eSport will add another opportunity for students at MCC to participate in a growing offering of extracurricular opportunities for our students," said Aaron Bouyea, Director of Athletics.
MCC will join the National Junior College Athletic Association eSports (NJCAAE) organization competing against other two-year institutions across the country. MCC is also one five NJCAA Region III institutions in NY state to offer eSports this coming fall joining Finger Lakes, Hudson Valley, Broome, and Corning Community College.
All competition will occur remotely for the fall. We ask anyone interested to complete the eSports interest form and join us for one of our eSports interest zoom meetings to be held on the following dates:
Wednesday, September 2 at 7pm
Thursday, September 3 at 7pm
Zoom link will be provided upon completion of the interest form.
