BUFFALO - A key run in the second half and some hard-nosed defense was the right recipe as the MCC men's basketball team came away with an 82-69 victory over Erie Community College in a WNYAC battle Saturday.
The Tribunes (9-1, 17-4) led by four midway through the second half before embarking on a game-changing 22-9 run that put the contest away. An active Tribune defense pressured the Kats into 34 percent shooting from the floor, including just 21 percent from long distance.
Majesty Brandon led Monroe with a game-high 24 points. He hit a 3-pointer and added a 3-point play, scoring eight in all during that key spurt that helped Monroe open a 17-point lead. Noah West added six of his 15 during the run.
