ITHACA, New York - The MCC golf team took home second place at the Region III tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Cornell University, and in the process qualified for the NJCAA national championship.
The Tribunes finished with a two-day total of 647, which was three strokes off the pace set by Jamestown Community College. Monroe actually led by seven strokes after Monday's opening round, but Jamestown's team total of 315 on Tuesday offset MCC's 327.
All five MCC golfers earned All Region honors for their performances. The team was led by Connor Goss, who shot an 82-78 for a two-day score of 160 that was fifth overall.
Michael Long (77-87) and Joshua DeSain (81-83) both put up 164s on the tournament, while Jackson Mordaunt (80-85) was at 165. Tyler Hockenberger (85-81) rounded out the scoring with a two-day total of 166.
Monroe will compete as a team in the NJCAA Division III national tournament, to be held at Chautauqua Golf Club in Chautauqua, NY, June 7-10.
