NORTH EAST, Pennsylvania - The MCC men's lacrosse team played their first out-of-state contest of the season as they traveled to Mercyhurst North East on Wednesday afternoon. Monroe came away victorious for the sixth time in as many games with a final score of 20-3, improving their record to 6-2.
Led by freshman attack Nick Kallio, who had a great all-around performance with four goals and seven assists, the Tribunes jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after one quarter that they would never relinquish. Monroe tacked another three goals in the second to bring the score to 9-1 at the half.
Monroe would then add 11 goals to Mercyhurst's two in the second half, in what was a fairly one-sided game. Monroe was again powered by another balanced offensive performance. Every available Tribune midfielder and attack got into the stat sheet.
Hudson Weil, the Tribunes' leading goal-scorer, had another great game scoring four goals and dishing out five assists. Austin Jobson scored five goals, while Jake Moss had one goal and three assists.
Patrick Brewer finished with one goal and two assists, Dave Lehmen and Brandon Barnhart each had a goal and Connor Nicholson had his best scoring game of the year, tallying back-to-back goals in the second half. Monroe took at total of 72 shots.
Scacchetti was 17-for-24 on faceoffs on the night. Mark Campbell made seven saves in goal.
The Tribunes next host Onondaga CC on Saturday, April 15 at John L. DiMarco Field. It's their last game before heading to Maryland for two games at Anne Arundel CC and College of Southern Maryland on April 19 and 20.
