JAMESTOWN, New York - The MCC men's swimming and diving team opened the season by defeating Region III foes Jamestown, Genesee and Erie Saturday afternoon.
The Tribunes were led by freshman Caleb Puzio, who won two individual events and was part of a relay victory as well.
MCC defeated Jamestown by the score of 139-40. Monroe topped Erie 142-38, and Genesee 124-79.
Puzio took first in the 100 back (1:00.21) and the 200 free (1:58.41). He out-touched teammate Ilya Shinkeyev by just two-tenths of a second in the 200. Puzio also teamed with Benjamin Metzger, Aaron Berghash, and Shinkeyev to win the 200 free relay in a time of 1:35.27.
Metzger took first in the 200 IM in a time of 2:13.90. Other individual winners included Patrick Marsh in the 100 fly (58.76), Alexander Parks in the 100 free (53.36), Jon Manwarren in the 500 free (5:37.74), and Maclaine Conner in the 100 breast (1:05.55).
The 200 medley relay team of Manwarren, Conner, Marsh, and Parks was victorious with a time of 1:44.21.
