DELHI, New York - After a 13-day layoff, the MCC softball team got back into action in style on Tuesday by sweeping SUNY Delhi in a doubleheader.
The bats were alive on a cold day, as the Tribunes topped the Broncos 17-6 and 10-2. Monroe is now 7-6 on the year.
The Tribunes trailed 6-2 after the Broncos put up four in the fourth. But MCC scored nine times in the fifth and added six more in the sixth to win via the mercy rule.
Morgan Boyce, Amanda Gillen, and Bonnie Parrotta added three hits apiece for Monroe. Heather Fontana and Kayla Henning each had two base hits. Fontana, Boyce, Gillen, and Henning all drove in two runs.
Bri Wagner struck out four and got the victory on the mound.
Boyce provided the big bat in the nightcap, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBIs. Gillen finished 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, and Thuman, Henning, Rouse, and Amanda Colon all had two hits each.
Colon also got the win on the hill, scattering two runs and striking out three.
