MCC softball splits with Corning

ROCHESTER - The MCC softball team split a doubleheader with No. 6 Corning CC on Saturday, taking the opener 8-0 before dropping the nightcap 9-0.

Both games ended after five innings due to the mercy rule. The Tribunes are 11-13 on the season.

Tori Thuman had another big day at the plate in game one. The sophomore catcher broke the game open with a second-inning grand slam and added an RBI double in the fifth.

That was more than enough support for Bri Wagner. The sophomore hurler allowed four runs and struck out five in the complete game shutout.

Taylor House and Jenny Pearl added two hits apiece in game one for the Tribunes.

The Red Barons flipped the script in game two. Corning scored two runs in the first and second and put it away with a four-spot in the fourth.

MCC managed just two hits - a double from Pearl and a single from Julia Grace.
