COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - The hardware continues to roll in for MCC sophomore Shanice Johnson.
Region III Player of the Year. First Team NJCAA All-American. And now, National Player of the Year.
The 6-foot forward from Philadelphia added to her amazing season on Tuesday by being recognized as the 2015-16 Spalding® NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Year by the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball Committee. Johnson guided the Lady Tribunes to a 31-2 record, the Region III, Division II championship, and a fourth-place finish at the national tournament.
Johnson averaged a team-high 15.1 points per game to go along with 7.6 rebounds and 3.4 steals. Some of her best work came when it mattered most. Johnson averaged 24 points and nine rebounds per game and was named to the all-tournament team as the Tribunes took home fourth place at the national tournament.
