Six Tribunes earn All-American honors

CHARLOTTE - Fresh off the program's sixth consecutive national championship, the MCC women's lacrosse team was well-represented on the season-ending All-American list.

Six Tribunes received the highest honors as the Tribunes finished 12-0 to cap its sixth straight perfect season and win its eighth national title overall.

Sophomores Janee DeLuca, Francesca Messura, and Chloe Wormsley, along with freshmen Brittany Chamberlain, Maliah Benedetto, and Jessica Covell all made the list.

DeLuca was the team's leading scorer, registering 42 goals, 28 assists, and 70 points. Messura finished with 18 goals, 13 assists and 22 draw controls, while Wormsley was a constant force on the defensive side of the field.

Chamberlain finished the season with 31 goals and 20 assists to go along with 41 draw controls. She was the Region III Player of the Year as well as MVP of the regional and national tournaments.

Benedetto tallied 29 goals and 28 assists and controlled a team-best 62 draws. Covell played nearly 500 minutes in goal and had a 7.08 goals against average along with a 52.8 save percentage.
