Lady Tribunes dominant in weekend sweep

BEL AIR, Maryland - The MCC women's soccer team won two games in dominating fashion, sweeping through Maryland with wins over Anne Arundel and Harford on a weekend road trip.

The Tribunes (3-3-2) defeated the Riverhawks 10-0 on Saturday and the Fighting Owls 5-0 on Sunday. Monroe outshot the two teams 71-4 over the two matches.

MCC scored seven times in the first half to blow the game open with Anne Arundel.  Marla Roberts scores twice, followed by two each from Eleni Markou and Elin Eklund, to make it 6-0. Bayley Kralik then added a score just before the half.

Gabriella Hallnan and Isabella Bushen added goals in the second half before Eklund capped off her hat trick as well as the scoring for the game.

MCC outshot the Riverhawks 42-0 on the day.

Another strong first half was the key as the Tribunes started fast against Harford on Sunday. Kralic had two goals and an assist and Roberts and Markou also scored as Monroe jumped out to a 4-0 first-half lead.

Eklund capped the scoring on a feed from Roberts early in the second half.

Caitie Broderick and Kirsten Lane combined to stop three Fighting Owl shots for the shutout.
