MELBOURNE, Florida - Fresh off Region III and District E championships, the MCC women's soccer team has been seeded seventh for next week's NJCAA Division I national tournament.
The Tribunes (12-3-2) are in a pool with second-seeded Butler Community College and No. 11 Cape Fear Community College.
The tournament begins Nov. 14 and will be held at Titan Soccer Complex on the Melbourne campus of Eastern Florida State College. The first three days of the tournament will be pool play, with the top team from each pool advancing to the semifinals on Nov. 18. The championship game will be at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19.
Monroe takes on Cape Fear at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Butler at the same time Wednesday. All games will be streamed live at http://www.efsctitans.com/webcast. You can also follow along for scores and highlights on MCC's Twitter page.
The Tribunes qualified for nationals by way of a thrilling 3-1 victory over ASA College before a raucous home crowd last Sunday. The win, which avenged a 4-0 loss to the Avengers in the season opener, was the 11th straight for MCC.
A vigourous regular-season schedule has given the Tribunes plenty of familiarity with this year's national tournament field. Monroe has already played four teams that qualified for nationals, winning twice (#8 Parkland, #10 Schoolcraft), drawing once (#2 Laramie), and losing once (#4 Iowa Western in double overtime).
