ROCHESTER - Sophomore midfielder Thenia Zervas has been named the Region III, Division I Women's Soccer Player of the Year and joins five other Tribunes on the All-Region III team for the 2018 season.

Zervas has been a play-maker in the middle of the pitch for two seasons for Monroe. She set single-game (8) and single-season (30) assist records this fall and is MCC's all-time leader in that category with 51 heading to this weekend's Region XII tournament in Livonia, Mich. She also has 13 goals, for a total of 56 points.

Zervas was joined on the All-Region first team by fellow sophomores Roosa Ariyo, Arianna Green, and Caitrin Rennoldson, as well as freshmen Katrina Yencer and Efi Brame.

Head coach Sal Galvano was named the Region III Coach of the Year.

Ariyo has also had a record-breaking campaign for the Tribunes. The forward is tied for the national lead with 46 goals, which included a team-record eight in a win over Mercyhurst North East on Sept. 29. She also has 14 assists and is second in the country with 106 points. The 46 goals is a MCC single-season record, while her 70 career scores are a team mark as well.

Green and Rennoldson anchor a defense that has allowed just 21 goals in 15 contests. Green also has a goal and four assists, while Rennoldson has two assists.

Yencer and Brame round out the All-Region team for Monroe. Yencer is second on the team with 20 goals to go along with 11 assists. Brame has tallied five goals and seven assists.
