ROCHESTER - After a tremendous sophomore season for the the MCC women's soccer team, Roosa Ariyo has received Athlete of the Year honors from both the Western New York Athletic Conference and Region III.
Ariyo was named the WNYAC Senior Female Athlete of the Year and the Region III Female Athlete of the Year. She had an incredible 2018 campaign for the Lady Tribunes, setting new MCC marks for goals in a game (8), goals in a season (55), and goals in a career (79). She also established new team standards for single-season points (128) and career points (182).
Ariyo was named the Junior College Division I Women's National Player of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches and was an NJCAA and USC first team All-American after leading the nation in goals and points and helping guide Monroe (15-5-0) to an appearance at the national tournament.
She was MCC's Female Athlete of the Year, as well as a SUNY Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award winner. She will attend the University of Bridgeport in the fall. Bridgeport won the NCAA Division II national championship a year ago.
