Lady Tribunes win 13th straight regional title

ROCHESTER - The MCC women's swimming and diving team wrapped up its 13th consecutive Region III/Northeast District championship Sunday.

the Tribunes outdistanced Fashion Institute of Technology and Genesee Community College to continue an amazing streak that started in 2005. Up next for Monroe is the NJCAA championship meet in Buffalo in early March.

Megan Mack and Heather Chrisman shared honors as the Region III/Northeast District Female Swimmers of the Year, which is based on points accumulated through the weekend's meet.

Mack and Chrisman both took home event titles on Sunday. Mack won the 1650 free in a time of 19:37.81, while Chrisman took first in the 200 breast in 2:37.90.

Mack also won the 200 and 500 frees on the weekend, and Chrisman was victorious in the 200 IM and 100 breast.

Ashley VanDermmer was second in the 200 back (2:22.21) on Sunday. Hallie Marquart followed with a third-place finish in the 100 free in 59.42.

Alison Gregor placed second in the 200 fly (2:35.18).

The 400 free relay team of Mack, VanDermeer, Gregor, and Chrisman closed the meet with a victory in a time of 3:52.56.
