Tribunes go 1-2 at home tourney

ROCHESTER - The MCC volleyball team opened the season by going 1-2 at the Tribune Invitational Saturday.

The Tribunes fell to Jamestown and Northampton before rebounding to defeat Corning.

Monroe led two games to one over Jamestown in the tournament opener, but the Jayhawks rallied to take the final two games. Andrea Green finished with nine kills, five aces, and 18 digs for Monroe, while Tessa Engel added a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs.

Jessica Marini dished out 37 assists , Danielle Tracy had nine kills, and Essence Britt and Jala McFadden chipped in with seven kills apiece.

The Tribunes then dropped a four-game match to Northampton. Engel had 15 kills and nine digs, while Chelsea Steinruck tallied eight kills. 

MCC rebounded in the final match to defeat Corning in four games for its first win of the season.
