BUFFALO - The MCC volleyball team took one out of three matches at a Region III pod tournament at Erie Community College on Saturday.
The Tribunes (5-5 in region, 10-6 overall) defeated Niagara County CC 3-0, before falling to Erie and Jamestown by those same scores.
Monroe opened by taking down the Thunderwolves 25-13, 25-17, 25-22. Julie Cicotta totaled nine kills, eight digs, and a pair of blocks, while Stephany Paredes chipped in with eight kills and six blocks. Riley Moscicki and Miley Davila added 13 digs apiece, while Kierstin Hammond had six kills and 11 digs. Maryssa Greer tallied nine digs, 19 assists, and a pair of aces.
The Tribunes then fell to host Erie by the scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-15. Cicotta and Hammond had seven kills each, while Davila led the defense with 15 digs. Hannah DeLorenzo accumulated four kills and nine digs.
Jamestown closed the day by defeating MCC 25-15, 25-22, 25-16. Cicotta finished with nine kills and 13 digs, Hammond had eight kills and 13 digs, and Greer added 12 assists and 10 digs. DeLorenzo chipped in with six assists, four kills, and four aces.
Monroe returns to action on Tuesday, as Niagara visits Monagan Court for MCC's first home match of the season. Game time is 6 p.m.
