Tribunes cruise past Harford, into national title game
Monroe will take on Anne Arundel for national championship.
ROCHESTER - The MCC women's lacrosse team left no doubt in the NJCAA women's lacrosse national semifinal, defeating Harford Community College 20-4.
The Tribunes (17-0) will face Anne Arundel CC for the national title Sunday at 1 p.m. on John L. DiMarco Field. Anne Arundel defeated Onondaga CC 12-10 in the other semifinal.
Monroe led 12-2 at the half and cruised to the victory. Ten different players scored goals for MCC.
Melanie Murphy (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) had a huge game for the Tribunes, totaling nine points on four goals and five assists. Keirsten MacLellan (Baltimore, MD/Seton Keough) had a game-high five goals and also dished out an assist.
Courtney Reuter (Newark, NY/Newark) scored three times and Elizabeth Lacomb (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) added two goals and one assist. Molly Gray (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman) chipped in with a goal and there assists.
Caitlin Cavallaro (Corning, NY/Corning East) and Alexandra Sportini (Monroe, CT/Masuk) split time in goal, whith Cavallaro stopping five Harford shots and Sportini four.
Alexis Wilensky (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) and Courtney O'Hara (Greece, NY/Greece Arcadia) each had a goal and an assist, and Leia Hayward (Hilton, NY/Hilton), Hannah Barnett (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman), and Caity Hamilton (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) all scored once.
Sara Lebrun scored twice for the Fighting Owls, and Brittany Cudmore and Emily McDowell added one goal each. Maggie Shifflett made eight saves.
