MCC women lead after first day of regionals
A meet record in the 200 free relay highlights the action.
ROCHESTER - The Monroe Community College women's swimming and diving team got off to a strong start at the 2013 Region III/Northeast District championship meet Friday.
The Tribunes lead with an overall team score of 183. Jamestown is in second with 104.
MCC kicked things off in style, as the 200 free relay team of Marguerite Zaepfel (Barker, NY/Barker), Katie Hamilton (Rochester, NY/Eastridge), Amber Landschoot (Phelps, NY/Midlakes), and Elizabeth Maier (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) set a new meet record with a time of 1:42.78.
Hamilton took first in the 500 free (5:29.22) and Zaepfel won the 50 free (25.16). Alaiya Tuntemeke (South Lima, NY/Livonia) took first in the 1-meter diving with a score of 348.20.
The 400 medley relay team of Landschoot, Ashley Dubois (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Maier, and Zaepfel won in 4:25.80.
