Tribunes finish sixth at nationals
Monroe fires a final-round 307 in the rain-shortened event.
CHAUTAUQUA, NY - The MCC golf team brought the 2012-2013 year to a close with a sixth-place finish at the NJCAA Division III national tournament at Chautauqua Golf Club's Lake Course.
The Tribunes fired a final-round 307 on Friday to finish the rain-shortened event with a score of 932. Thursday's third round was wiped out due to weather and the tournament was limited to 54 holes.
Vincennes University won the team title with a three-round total of 910. Sandhills CC was second at 914, and host Jamestown CC was third at 915. Ethan Chamineak of Georgia Military College went wire-to-wire to capture medalist honors, shooting 70-73-73 to finish at even par.
Brandon Grzywacz (Holley, NY/Holley) and Jered Maloney (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) both carded 75s for Monroe on Friday. Tyler Hill (Brockport, NY/Brockport) shot a 78, and Brett Robertson (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) rounded out the scoring with a 79.
Grzywacz, Hill, and Maloney all finished at 233 on the tournament, good for a tie for 28th place.
