RANDOLPH, NJ - Freshman Mark Woinicki (Newburgh, NY/John S. Burke Catholic) set a new MCC single-game record with nine points as the Tribunes crushed County College of Morris 18-1 Sunday evening.
The game was actually the second of the day for Monroe (10-4), the team having lost earlier in the afternoon to Stony Brook.
Woinicki had four goals and five assists to set the new mark. The old standard of eight points had been achieved four times, most recently by Aaron Hildreth on Feb. 7, 2010.
All four of his goals came in the third period as MCC erupted for 10 goals over the final 20 minutes. He had two assists in the first period, two more in the second, and one in the third. The five assists were one short of a team record.
Tyler Underhill (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) added two goals and two assists, and John Papas (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) and Ryan Rooney (Laconia, NH/Laconia) chipped in with two goals and one assist apiece.
Cameron Randles (Canyon County, CA/Pete Knight) also tallied two goals, and Matt Anticoli (Buffalo, NY/Frontier) dished out three assists.
Andrew Barletta (Phoenix, AZ/Centennial) stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced in net for Monroe.
