ROCHESTER, NY – In a display of overwhelming dominance, the #13 Monroe Community College Women's Soccer program routed Jamestown Community College 14-0. The Tribunes showcased their offensive firepower, outshooting their opponents 66-2, with 43 of those attempts landing on target.
The scoring began early, with forward Sam Cipolla (Rochester, NY) netting her sixth goal of the season just 4:50 into the game, assisted by Saffron Millar (Wanaka, New Zealand). The floodgates opened after that, with goals from Sofia Martins (Lisbon, Portugal), Mathilda Hellmich (Cologne, Germany), and Brianna Romaniak (Belchertown, MA). By halftime, Monroe had built an insurmountable 8-0 lead.
The Tribs didn't take their foot off the gas in the second half, adding another six goals. Cipolla completed her hat-trick and scored her eighth goal of the season in the 84th minute, capping off another brilliant performance. Meanwhile, Martins was unstoppable, adding four goals to her tally, bringing her season total to eight as well.
JCC struggled to contain Monroe's relentless attack, with the Jayhawks goalkeeper Morgan Maloney facing 43 shots on goal. Despite allowing 14 goals, Maloney recorded an impressive 29 saves, keeping the scoreline from ballooning even further.
The Tribunes' defense was equally solid, with Luciana Giraldo (Medellin, Colombia) and Clare Boesel (Palmyra, NY) combining for a clean sheet, facing just one shot on target from Jamestown.
This emphatic win moves Monroe to 4-0-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play, while Jamestown falls to 0-3. Monroe will look to carry their momentum on the road as they head to Rockville Maryland to take on Montgomery College.
