Sal Galvano

Bio

Galvano, a native of Rochester, NY and a graduate of Gates Chili High School, is in his 19th year as the head coach of the MCC women's soccer team.  In that time, he has amassed an overall record of 216-65-14.  He has led the Lady Tribunes to 13 Region III championships and was named Region III Coach of the Year all 13 years.  

Galvano was also named the 2012 and 2016 North Region Coach of the Year by United Soccer Coaches.

Galvano also coached the Rochester Lady Lancers who compete in the UWS (United Women’s Soccer) a Professional Amateur league in 2018 & 2019, leading them to a 3rd place finish in the conference..

Before MCC, Galvano spent two years as the men’s soccer coach and assistant women’s soccer coach at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Ariz.  He led the men’s Thunderbirds to the semifinals of the 2007 Arizona Community College Athletic Association tournament.  He also helped the women’s team qualify for the NJCAA National tournament both years.

Galvano began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant for the Genesee Community College men’s team from 1998-2002, helping the Cougars attain national rankings for three consecutive years.  He then became the first women’s soccer head coach at Cedar Valley College (Lancaster, Texas), compiling a 44-18-4 record during his tenure and leading the team to an NJCAA Division III national runner-up finish in 2005.
