Monroe Swim and Dive Win Big at ECC WNYAC Conference Meet
MCC's men's and women's swim and dive teams cleaned up the competition in Buffalo, placing first in 16 out of the 26 events, on winning 5 out of their 6 duel meets.
BUFFALO, NY - Monroe Community College's men's and women's swim and dive teams were dominant at the ECC WNYAC Conference meet, with the women taking two out of their three duels, and the men sweeping theit three. The Tribunes took first place in 16 of the 26 events across both individual and relay races.
Looking first at the girls, Scarlett Ulatowski (Victor, NY) took first in the women's 100 yard freestyle with a blistering sub minute time of 57.45 seconds.
Minjeong Ban (Daejeon, South Korea) put up her personal best in the 1000 yard freestyle, swimming a 22:21.58.
In addition to the individuals, the women's swimmers also won their 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:03.47. KhaNy Sangasy (Brockport, NY) started in the first leg, followed by Nina Alderman (Rochester, NY) and Amber Johnson (Newark NY), and anchored by Peyton Dodge (Canisteo, NY).
For the boys, Henrique Silva-Baltazar (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) took first place in the men's 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:23.84, beating the second place finisher by 25 seconds.
Xander De Roos (Borger, Netherlands) won first in the men's 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 28.62 seconds. Also in the 50 yard breaststroke, Connor Moran (Cicero, NY) recorded his personal best at a time of 35.48 seconds. In addition to his PR, Moran also led the team in the one meter diving, with a final score of 128.45 points.
With this win, Monroe starts their season off in dominant fashion, and will look to continue and improve on this early season success when they travel to Jamestown.
