Tribunes Take Down Hawks in Dig Pink Match
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monroe Community College volleyball picked up a strong home win on Saturday afternoon, defeating Mohawk Valley Community College in four sets (25-16, 25-10, 15-25, 25-15) for the first time hosting at Monagan Court this season.
With the victory, the Tribunes improved their overall record behind a balanced attack and a dominant start. Monroe CC jumped out to a two-set lead, hitting .324 and .400 in the first and second sets, respectively, before weathering a third-set push from the Hawks.
Sophomore outside hitter Madalyn Robinson led all scorers with 17 total points, including nine kills and a match-high eight service aces. Greyeson McMaster added a team-best 10 kills on a blistering .471 attack percentage, while Lily Stalica contributed across the board with two kills, an ace, and five digs.
Kora Leupold facilitated Monroe's offense with 19 assists, while Angelika Lopez anchored the back row, notching 10 digs.
After dropping the first two sets, Mohawk Valley responded with a 25-15 third-set win, led by Jordan Winton and Miranda Millick, who each tallied nine kills on the afternoon. Despite the effort, the Hawks couldn't maintain the momentum, falling in the fourth set as Monroe closed out the match.
Winton and Millick combined for 22 of the team's 38 total points, while setter Ashlyn Genther dished out 21 assists and added eight digs.
The loss drops Mohawk Valley to a 1–3 record in their last four matches.
Monroe returns to action next week as they host a Region III showdown, while Mohawk Valley looks to bounce back on the road.
