ROCHESTER - Two former star athletes and a successful player/coach were inducted into the Monroe Community College Sports Hall of Fame Friday evening.
Lindsey (Grace) Frohnapple, Cihan Nuhoglu, and Michael Chamberlain were honored at MCC’s Hall of Fame banquet.
Frohnapple (Class of 2009) was a two-time NJCAA All-American and a key member of MCC’s 2008 NJCAA national-title winning softball team. The pitcher from Honeoye finished her career with a 35-7 record, a 1.27 ERA, and 295 strikeouts in 268 innings pitched.
Nuhoglu (Class of 2005) starred for the MCC men’s soccer team. A first team NJCAA All-American in 2004, the Bishop Kearney product totaled 20 goals and 18 assists in his two seasons and helped guide the Tribunes to the 2004 Region III title.
Chamberlain excelled on the diamond and as an assistant coach for the MCC baseball program. The strong-armed right fielder was a member of the first Tribune team to reach the Junior College World Series in 1976. He later returned to Monroe and spent more than a decade as a valued member of the MCC coaching staff.
